On the occasion of our practical bachelor thesis of our Bachelor in scenography, we Isabelle Simmen (CH) and Carmen Triñanes (Sp) will deal with the theme of the atmosphere of the circus.

Our interest lies in the illusions and the magic that emanates from this place and the dreams and longings that the circus can trigger.

Based on Erin Morgenstern‘s book „The Night Circus“, we will create an installation and make the tragic and the magic of the traditional circus tangible and dream like for the audiance.
Together we organize and design an installation of several spaces, which can be experienced and explored by the visitor.
The surreal actions of the performers in combination with the stage, the costumes, smells and sounds will create a collage of impressions, which will reveal to the visitors a dream like atmosphere.
A world of its own is created through the careful elaboration of the various elements that create an atmosphere.
The installation is the foundation of our little world.
During the five performance days, various artists will complement the atmosphere with short performances.
The visitors should be free to wander through several rooms or tents and from dream to dream. Everyone decides for him/herself, how long he / she wants to stay in a dream, or if he / she even dares to intervene in the events of the dream.
