Born in 1990, grew up and lives in Vigo, Spain.


Carmen Triñanes moved to Barcelona nine years ago to study at the European Design Institute (IED) to complete a diploma as a fashion designer. She dedicated her final project to a film and performance project inspired by films such as Lynch‘s The Elephant Man or „Freaks“ and everything around the Circus culture.


After graduating, she worked for the costume designer Chu Uroz, for the Compagnie La Fura dels Baus in various operas like „Babylon“ at the Munich Opera (2012), „Parsifal“ for the Cologne Opera
(2013), „Samsone et Dalila“ for the Opera in Rome and the Palau de la Opera de Valencia(2013-2015) or „Aida“ for L‘Arena di Verona , Italy (2013).


In January 2017 she went on a exchange semester at Aalto University Helsinki, where she studied Production Design for Film, Design for Theater and Costume Design.


Currently she combines scenography, costume and lighting studies for film, theater and television at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona with own projects as
a costume designer and set designer for film, dance, theater and visual projects in Spain.

After graduating from high school at the Kantonsschule Freudenberg Isabelle Simmen completed the Propaedeuticum of the Zurich University of the Arts.


In 2014 she began her formation as a scenographer in the fields of theater, film and exhibition.
During her education, she spent a semester at Aalto University Helsinki, where she studied Production Design for Film, Design for Theater and Costume Design.


A year later, Isabelle Simmen returned to Helsinki to attend a film module. Through this stay, she met Carmen Triñanes.
In October 2017, they worked together on the Swiss-Spanish film production „To The Sea“ by Julian Grünthal, as a production designer.


Between 2000 and 2015, Isabelle Simmen regularly attended a circus school and taught acrobatics and air ring for one year.


The atmosphere of the circus has always fascinated her.
At the Theaterspektakel in Zurich she worked with circus artists from Finland and France.


She wrote her bachelor thesis about „Dream sequences in film - Dream atmospheres from the point of view of scenography“.


Isabelle Simmen is currently working on various projects in the field of theater, modern circus, dance, photografy, exhibition and film.
